HURLBURT AIR FORCE BASE
HURLBURT AIR FORCE BASE

The Curveline crimp-process was used to create curved dock covers at this air force base marina. The curving process adds considerable rigidity to the metal, forming virtually self-supporting dock covers with minimal framing requirements. The panels have thus far done a good job of withstanding the heavy wind loads encountered during the Florida hurricane seasons.

The marina uses about 9,100+ sq. ft. of curved exposed fastener panels with 7.2” rib spacing. Panels were .050 aluminum in a teal color. Curveline used its proprietary “crimp-curving” process to curve panels in 14-ft 5” and 15-ft. 5” lengths to an outside radius of 7-ft. 1/8”.

General contractor was Readiness Management Support, Jacksonville, Florida. The metal panel installer was Harrison Dock Builders, Harrison, Idaho.

Hurlburt Field is known as the home of Air Force Special Operations, and there are several other organizations located at the base that play an important role in national defense. Hurlburt Field includes 680 military family housing units located on the main base, across U.S. Highway 98 and five miles NE of the main base.
