Capabilties

Curveline’s service center makes it easy to use curved metal roofs, walls, fascias, decking and other components on your new or renovation projects. Curveline specializes in the custom-curving of profiled metal panels. So unique it’s been patented in 14 countries, Curveline’s “crimp-curving” process makes it possible to create a wider range of contours and shapes, using a large variety of metal panels.

Our innovative technology enables you to use economical metal panels for all types of curved architectural components. As a result, you enjoy greater design freedom and superior aesthetics, along with all the durability and high performance that are inherent to metal.

The Curveline process greatly increases the load factor of metal panels. So when you design with curved panels, it’s often possible to reduce panel gauge and/or the amount or type of structural support. The result: material and labor savings.

Technical Info

Curveline’s “crimp-curving” process can be performed on a wide range of metal panels — including exposed fastener roofing and wall panels, standing seam roofing profiles, decking profiles and more.

The curving process makes it possible to use many profiles interchangeably — e.g., a roofing profile may be used in a siding application, and vice versa. In addition, many profiles are curvable in either direction.

To use the Curveline process, simply select the profile of your choice, determine the required substrate and gauge, and specify the desired radii and angles of curvature. The curving parameters provided here are intended to aid in the design process.

Listed below are general curving parameters for each profile. Information on specific panel products is available from individual manufacturers.

NOTES:

  • Grades of steel are 50ksi yield strength maximum.
  • Most panels can be curved in aluminum – Temper H14 or Stainless Steel – Type 304.
  • Curveline, Inc., is a service company that curves panels for panel manufacturers only. Curveline, Inc., is not a manufacturer or supplier of panels or material.
  • The technical division at Curveline is available for assistance concerning architectural and structural applications only.
  • For information regarding prices, colors, gauges, flashings, and/or the “crimped curved” panels being used on a project, consult with the panel manufacturer(s).
  • Depending on quantity, normal curving production time is 10 days upon receipt of material.
  • During peak construction months, production times will vary. Curveline and the panel manufacturers cannot be held liable for construction schedules due to the specialized process that is performed on the manufacturer’s panels.

The following general guidelines apply to crimp-curved panel applications.

STEEL THICKNESS 18, 20, 22, 24, 26 gauge
ALUMINUM THICKNESS .032″, .040″, .050″, temper H14
STAINLESS STEEL THICKNESS 20, 22, 24, 26 gauge
PANEL LENGTH 2 ft minimum; 35 ft maximum (depending on radius)
PANEL DEPTH 3/4″ to 4″ deep
PANEL WIDTH 4 ft maximum
MATERIALS Panel materials suitable for crimp-curving include painted or unpainted galvanized steel, or 55% Al-Zn alloy coated steel painted or with acrylic coating, aluminum, anodized aluminum and stainless steel. ASTM Grades A, B, C, CQ and D steel can be readily crimp-curved.
MINIMUM RADIUS Varies by profile. Contact us for minimum radius.
COLORS & FINISHES Virtually all paint systems used on standard profiled panels are suitable for crimp-curving. Consult panel manufacturer for information on available colors and finishes. Crimp-curving can also be performed on anodized panels, or on panels which are primed for post-painting. Stainless steel Type 304-2B finishes are also suitable for curving.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT SERVICES Curveline’s technical staff is available to answer your questions on all types of standard and special curving applications. Curveline can provide additional technical data on request, including engineering span tables based on snow load and wind conditions. Sketch drawings are also available to stimulate design ideas.
